Born in 1976, in Burney, California, a settlement of 3,000 souls, Erick Lindgren grew up in a fiercely competitive family with two brothers.

As a youngster, he tried his hand at pretty much every type of sport that was available one way or the other in his small home-town. He nurtured dreams of becoming a professional athlete, but his physical limitations soon made it clear that nothing would ever become of that dream.

 

As soon as he realized he had no future as an athlete, Lindgren focused his attention elsewhere. He enrolled at Butte Junior College, and soon discovered the Colusa Indian Casino nearby. It was that casino that provided him his first steady job that would prove to be his last too: he became a blackjack dealer there.

That’s where he learned Texas Holdem and discovered that he had an uncanny ability to squeeze money out of the game. It didn’t take long till playing Texas Holdem became so lucrative for him, that he quit college altogether to devote more time to this newfound passion of his.

Online poker proved to be a great way to put his newfound skills to use, so he filled up his apartment with computers and began playing, sometimes in as many as 8 games at the same time. These antics further strengthened his already formidable skills, and playing as a prop player the casino didn’t set him back one inch either.

 

It was around this time that he earned his nickname “E-dog” as a patron would complain to him that “you beat me again, dog” at the end of a bad beat.

 

He played professionally for five years by the time he decided he should up the stakes a notch, and moved to Las Vegas in 2002. He began winning big right away: that, year he took first prize in the Bellagio Five Diamond Poker Classic. The following year, he won the WPT’s UltimateBet.com Poker Classic II,

In 2004-2005 he finally emerged as one of the main contenders of the professional poker scene. He took down first place at the PPT’s NL Holdem event, he finished 3^rd in the WPT’s NL Holdem Championship at the Borgata Winter Open (in 2006), he achieved his top WSOP performance by finishing 2^nd in the $5,000 NL Holdem short-handed event.

 

His career achievements include 13 WSOP money finishes, 2 WPT titles, 5 WPT final tables and 12 money finishes.
