Deeb came to the final table second in chips to perhaps the hottest player in poker right now, Sorel Mizzi.

In the end, the two squared off heads-up for the title with Deeb doubling twice, including once with ace-queen against ace-king, to erase Mizzi's massive chip lead and secure the victory.

"I cannot believe I came back," said Deeb. "He kept making me call, but I changed my game and got a bit of a break."

The win was worth €290,000 to Deeb while Mizzi added €120,000 to the more than $1.3 million he's already won in 2010.

Deeb, who has two World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour wins, now has more than $7.1 million in career live tournament earnings.

The final table of the 24-player event, which was filmed for TV, also featured Bruno Fitoussi, Andrew Feldman, Antony Lelouche and Roger Hairabedian.

"Congratulations to Freddy," said Fitoussi, who happens to represent the Aviation Club de France where the event was held.

"Sorel Mizzi has been on an unprecedented run tearing up the online and offline felt. He's the man to beat in poker at the moment and if I had to pick someone to do it, Freddy Deeb would be very high up on that list."
