Last Wednesday morning, two men rang the doorbell of Jonathan Duhamel's home in the suburbs of Montreal, Quebec. When the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion answered, they forced their way inside, assaulted him, and stole his things. The champ was okay, escaping the incident with just the few bruises that come with being bound and beaten repeatedly. Notable items that were stolen included an undisclosed amount of 500-euro bills, a black Rolex Submariner watch (which had been a gift from PokerStars), and the priceless diamond-laden WSOP Main Event bracelet.
After recovering from a brief stint in the hospital, Duhamel released a statement thanking those close to him for their support and urging anyone with information to contact the police. He also offered up a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of his jewelry and the arrests of the perpetrators.
Justice seems to be in motion in Quebec. On Saturday night, a 20-year-old woman from Saint-Saveur named Bianca Rojas-Latraverse was arrested in connection with the caper. Police credited information from the public for her arrest, and she was charged with five offenses that included conspiracy.
The subsequent interrogation led to the captures of two more men, 22-year-old John Stephan Clark Lemay from Pointe-Claire and 26-year-old Andre Robert Perron from Pierrefonds. They've been charged with breaking and entering, robbery, assault, and forcible confinement. QMI Agency is also reporting that Perron was in possession of the Rolex at the time of his arrest, but the bracelet is still missing.
This morning, more news broke as CBC News reported the arrest of a fourth person in connection with the robbery. Charges have not yet been filed against the 20-year-old man from Longueuil as police continue their questioning.
Those are the facts as we have them so far, but accurate information regarding the arrests has been hard to come by. Longueuil police department spokesman Mark David told Bloomberg that the investigation was still on-going. Stay tuned for more updates on this story as they become available.

In a new interview with one of Europe's biggest poker magazines, the youngest living poker legend Viktor Blom, from Sweden, speaks out about the day when he lost $5 million to Cole South and Brian Hastings (the biggest loss in his career) and what crossed his mind when it was reveled that South, Hastings and another 3rd player, Brian Townsend, had collaborated and made joint statistics of how he played hands. When Full Tilt found out about cheating they removed Townsend's pro status for 30 days. However, South and Hastings got away with it.

"I think that that they tried to create an advantage, and they are cowards. I was playing against Cole South in a 300/600 game and became really tilted and 3-betted every hand. He was in the lead and suddenly decided to stop playing. I said, "what the hell?" and he apologized and said he must go. Then, just seconds later, Brian Hastings took his seat. They probably sat next to each other. Anyhow, Hastings won $4.5 million against me," Viktor Blom says.

As most of you probably have noticed by now, since it's all over the internet, Full Tilt poker has been shut down in Europe as well. There's a lawsuit pending from April the 15th and it seems in light of those events that Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has decided "for the sake of public interest" to suspend the license and force FTP to seize its operations.
“The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15th April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation.”
The result is that FTP cannot do the following:
1: Register new customers
2: Accept deposits from existing customers
3: Allow existing customers to withdraw funds that are held in their accounts
4: Permit customers to participate in any form of poker game play or gambling transaction.
FTP has not gone out with any official statement, nor is anything obvious on their site apart from a message saying "Maintenance In Progress
We apologise but the system is currently down. Please check back later."
Plenty of rumors are going around, including that FTP are considering moving back to being licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, or that Jack Binion is considering buying out Ray Bitar's shares of FTP (Ray is one of the people who was indicted on the infamous "Black Friday"). Nothing seems to be official yet though and it's still up in the air.
We at BPT doubt this is the end of FTP, but we'll all have to wait and see.
A user has been temporarily banned for 7 days. He insulted an admin and behaved rudely in general, and failed the whole way to make any valid point, in the comments of a torrent. BPT needs our users, and we love users who contribute, but uploading x amount of torrents does NOT give you a free ticket to behave any way you want. Admins can be reasoned with, but keep it civil and to the point. Insulting people is never constructive and insulting an admin isn't particularly clever either. We won't tolerate this kind of attitude, especially toward the admins that work for you 24/7.

Here we are again, another stellar event at the 2011 World Series of Poker is down to the wire. This one, Event #42: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, has four players remaining. Leading the charge after Day 3 and into Day 4 is Ben Lamb with 4.335 million in chips.
This is Lamb's second final table here at the 2011 WSOP. Earlier this Series, Lamb took second place to 24th-place finisher in this event Sam Stein. For his runner-up finish in that event, Lamb earned $259,918. This run is Lamb's tenth WSOP cash and third WSOP final table. In 2009, Lamb made a super deep run in the WSOP Main Event, finishing 14th for $633,022.
John Shipley from England sits in second place with 2.705 million in chips. Shipley has 13 WSOP cashes on record, making this his 14th. He has five WSOP final tables previously and his best finish on record in a seventh-place finish in the 2002 WSOP Main Event that was won by Robert Varkonyi., Shipley took home $125,000 for that finish, the second largest score of his career. Already guaranteed nearly $275,000 here, this is now the second largest score of his career.
Sami Kelopuro has no WSOP cashes on record, but that doesn't mean he's a complete rookie. Kelopuro has played several WSOP events, just hadn't had the run he needed to make the money. He's making this one count though, as the young Finn finds himself in the final four of one of the most elite tournaments during the Series. He's in third with 2.155 million in chips and plays a very aggressive style of play, so anything could change quickly with him.
Christopher King has 1.645 million in chips coming into the final four on Day 4. King is a real estate developer from the United States and is making his first-ever WSOP cash. He's made the run all the way down to the final table, but it's going to take some work if he wants to climb out from the bottom of the barrel to win this one.
It was a back and forth battle for all parties involved here on the final day of Event #34. But the patience and skill of Mark Schmid was able to outlast all the drama, all the suck-outs, coolers and bad beats, but most importantly, all of the players. He entered the final table with over a 2 to 1 chip lead on the second highest stack. He had a clear strategy entering the final table which was to play small-ball poker and executed it in style. He was able to put pressure on his opponents by staying involved and having the ability to have any two cards at any time.
Early on it felt like fireworks were happening every other hand, except no one was busting. All in after all in, players kept sitting back down in their seat after having been on the brink of elimination. If you search back through the major hands that involved Schmid during these crazy hours, you'll find that despite losing many of the critical pots, his chip stack kept increasing. Three handed, Schmid was able to get his in against the of Andrew Rudnik for well over half of the chips in play. Despite flopping a Queen, the turn and river gave both players a wheel and the pot was split.
Ever focused, Schmid regrouped and found himself heads up with Justin Cohen facing a nearly 3 to 1 chip deficit. Cohen had been playing tight aggressive all day and found himself on both sides of the swingy final table. Cohen was even one card away from the title before Schmid snatched it away. The two players got it all in on a board. Cohen held and just needed to avoid a King, Nine or Six to beat the of Schmid. But it wasn't to be. Schmid breathed new life with the river. Later, Cohen was able to get Schmid short again. But another all in with Cohen drawing near dead gave Schmid a lead he refused to relinquish. On a board, Schmid held against the of Cohen and he bricked out. Ironically, it would be these same two hands that would give Schmid his bracelet.
On the final hand, Schmid limped his button and Cohen checked his option. The flop came and both players checked. The turn was another Seven, the , and Cohen check-called Schmid's bet of 250,000. The river completed a four-flush with the and Cohen checked for a third time. Schmid bet 450,000 and Cohen announced he was all in. Schmid told Cohen, "I don't see how I can fold," and made the call. Cohen knew immediately that he was beat, despite having for trips. Schmid tabled for a flush and a new WSOP champion was crowned.
For having beaten an incredible field of 3,144 players, Mark "pimpindonks" Schmid will take home $488,283 but most importantly his very first WSOP gold bracelet!
Texas representative Barton has composed an online poker bill by making use of information provided to him by poker players who follow his page on social networking website Facebook – and has made their opinions incredibly clear.
Barton – a senior House Energy and Commerce Committee member who also enjoys poker – believes there is an inconsistency between online poker play being considered legal and that processing payments for online poker are illegal.
The 61-year-old’s bill would legalise poker in all 50 of the USA’s states, although online poker sites could only operate in states where gambling is currently legal to allow for licensing through present gaming commissions.
Any state could opt out of the law and therefore forbid online poker via referendum or a state legislature vote, while the bill would also result in the setting up of a federal agency to supervise the game.
We came into today's Day 2 expecting plenty of action, and boy we were not disappointed! We started off the day with 105 entrants, and after 10 full levels of play, we are down to our final 15 players. Our end of day chip leader is Gregory Brooks, who ended up bagging a whopping 1,294,000. He is followed closely by David Chiu, who has 891,000.
Brooks was involved in several big hands today, but none was bigger than the shocking elimination of bracelet winner and Day 1 chip leader Vanessa Selbst in 18th place. From late position, Selbst raised it up to 18,000 preflop and got a call from Steven Merrifield in the cutoff and Greg Brooks in the big blind. The flop came down and Brooks bet out 38,000. Selbst in middle position then raised it to 104,000 and Merrifield folded. Brooks thought about it for a little while and then re-raised to 203,000. Selbst then re-raised the pot and Brooks called putting her all in.
Selbst turned over for a trip threes with the ace kicker, and Brooks showed for trip threes with a king kicker.
It all changed on the turn though when the fell and gave Brooks a full house. Selbst cringed as she realized her fate, and the river sent her to the rail in 18th place.
David Chiu also played a massive pot with Erick Lindgren that changed the course of the tournament. Lindgren limped under the gun, and Michael McDonald made it 36,000. David Chiu called, as did Lindgren. The flop came , and Chiu immediately fired out four green chips, a 100,000 bet. Lindgren thought for about 15 seconds before announcing "raise the pot." McDonald quickly got out of the way, and it went back to Chiu. Chiu went in the tank for about a minute, and found out that Lindgren barely had him covered. Finally, Chiu started to slide his stack in the middle, saying "well I know you have the straight flush outs Erick cause I have top set." Erick called, and sure enough, Chiu was right.

The turn brought the , giving Lindgren the flush, but he still had to avoid the board pairing. Well he couldn't, as it came the . Chiu collected the pot, upping his stack to over 1 million, while Lindgren was crippled, then eliminated on the next hand.
Brooks and Chiu aren't the only big names left. In fact, a majority of the players left are household names, including David Ulliot, Michael McDonald, Peter Jetten, Jason Mercier, Chris Moorman, and Jared Bleznick.
Some big names who fell short of the money were Shaun Deeb, Brian Rast, Praz Bansi, Josh Arieh, and Joe Hachem. Meanwhile, the likes of Joseph Cheong, Layne Flack, Isaac Baron, Emil Patel, and Jeff Lisandro all cashed, but didn't make it to Day 3.
The 15 remaining players will return tomorrow at 2:30 local time to hopefully play down to a winner. Will Gregory Brooks, the winner of the 2011 LA Poker Classic, complete the second leg of the coveted triple crown in four months' time? Will Jason Mercier or David Ulliot get their second bracelet? Or David Chiu his fifth? Or will one of the relative unknowns top this start studded final day. It was an action packed day here in the Amazon room. Of the 323 players who started the day only 27 remain. Our chipleader heading into day 3 is Mike Souza who finished the day with 650,000 in chips. Souza is no stranger to the WSOP as he has cashed in numerous WSOP events as well as WSOP Circuit events. He will no doubt be the favorite to win the bracelet heading into Day 3.
As a result of the money bubble breaking right before the end of play last night, we saw a large number of eliminations happen very quickly at the beginning of the day. Among the players that hit the rail there were a number of notables including PokerStars Team Pro Gualter Salles, Barry Shulman, Dwyte Pilgrim, Gabriel Nassif, Chad Batista, Cody Slaubaugh, and Stephen Chidwick.
Other players at the top of the chip counts heading into Day 3 are Robbie Verspui with 602,000, Jeremy Kottler with 579,000, Paulus Valkenburg with 552,000 and Justin Cohen with 524,000.
We're sure the action will be exciting tomorrow as these last three tables of players battle it out for the gold bracelet and $488,283 that will go to our eventual champion. Play will resume in the Amazon room tomorrow at 2:30pm.
Selbst, Lindgren, Deeb, & McDonald Thrive on Day 1 of Inaugural $5K PLO/Six-Handed Event!
No one really knew what to expect today in regards to Event #35 $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha/Six Handed. This was the first time a six-handed PLO event graced the World Series of Poker Schedule, so the turnout was anyone's guess. As it turned out, the inaugural event drew an impressive 507 entrants, creating a prizepool of $2,382,900. With the top 48 finishers slated to get paid, including $619,575 that was reserved for first place, the pros turned out in full force. By the end of the night, only 110 players remained, including chip leader Team PokerStars Pro (USA) Vanessa Selbst with 250,300. A little further behind her are Erick Lindgren (208,700), Shaun Deeb (195,000), and Mike "timex" McDonald (181,100).
McDonald, who is playing in his first WSOP this summer, built his chips steadily throughout the day, but one hand was really reminiscent of his day-long heater. Late in the day, Amnon Filippi got his short stack all in preflop against McDonald:

Filippi was ahead with his aces, but the flop quickly changed that by giving McDonald a straight. The turn and river improved him to a flush, but the result was the same . . . Filippi was eliminated. "This is the best I've ever run in a tournament," McDonald said after the hand. "And I run good all the time."
While McDonald and company were running good, not everyone was so fortunate. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Carlos Mortensen, Galen Hall, Sammy Farha, Barry Greenstein, Eric Baldwin, Joe Cada, Robert Williamson, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Scott Seiver, and Daniel Negreanu were just a few of the pros who hit the rail on Day 1.
While many pros failed to survive, others successfully navigated the field and will be return on Day 2. They include David "Devilfish" Ulliott, Joe Hachem, Brian Rast, Layne Flack, Erick Lindgren, Andy Seth, Jeff Lisandro, and Jason Mercier. Also making it through were Kevin Boudreau and Chance Kornuth, the runner-up and winner of last year's $5,000 PLO event (though that one was played nine handed), who happened to play at the same table much of the day.

The action at the high-stakes tables picked up a little during the midweek after a relatively quiet weekend. Gus Hansen, still down for the year, continued to thrive and became the midweek’s biggest winner, essentially erasing his disastrous start to October. Meanwhile, Daniel "jungleman12" Cates saw some action, though not in the "durrrr Challenge". Instead he went head-to-head with David Benefield at the pot-limit Omaha tables. On the losing end of things, "Luukie21" dropped the most between Tuesday and Thursday while Rami “Arbianight” Boukai, who was a big winner last week, lost back some of his hard-earned profit.

He sat down withPokerNews recently to talk about what polarization is.
First of all, for those don't know, can you explain what polarization is?
Well, first I'll explain the opposite of polarizing, which is depolarizing or the old school way to talk about it, being merged. Basically, being depolarized means you are betting all of your hands, everything from your medium strength hands to your complete bluffs to the complete nuts. You are so merged because whatever you could have, you're betting. When you do this, your opponent has no idea what you have. You could have any two cards. For the most part, that whole idea of needing to seem like you could have any two cards in a spot probably gets overused. I think it's best to always have a polarized range.
>Well, that is that. After an intense match of raises, re-raises, all-ins and tense sweats, James Bord has beaten Fabrizio Baldassari to the World Series of Poker Europe Championship bracelet.
In the final hand, Baldassari got all his chips in the middle with pocket fives only to find an insta-call from Bord. It was the worst case scenario for the Italian, up against pocket tens.
The board came out 8-6-9 to give both players a gutshot but Bord was still dominating with the superior pair and draw. The turn was a jack and the river an ace to give Bord the Main Event title, a first prize of £830,401 and the WSOPE bracelet.
It's hard to concentrate on writing when the crowd is going this mad but warm congratulations to both James Bord and our runner-up Fabrizio Baldassari, who played exceptionally to navigate the toughest field in tournament poker. He has a consolation prize of over half a million pounds to take home.
It's hard to believe that the WSOPE is finally over and our champion is crowned. Former banker James Bord from London has been crowned a WSOPE champion and realised his poker dream.
Although the World Championship of Online Poker is taking up almost all of the online poker scene’s attention, plenty of players are still getting in on some smaller action over at FTP where another installment of the MiniFTOPS is currently running.
Although the WCOOP’s buy-ins are much larger, many of the same players are firing up the MiniFTOPS events for a fraction of the amounts knowing they can still win a nice chunk of change. What makes it even sweeter is that you can win big without investing too much money.
Through the first 13 events, 103,186 players have entered the events combined and over $2.5 million has been given away in prize money! That’s a pretty ridiculous number given that the any single buy-in hasn’t eclipsed $55 so far.
It seemed like a miracle when a group of miners were found alive after an accident in a gold mine in Chile last week. Miraculous indeed but still a massive ordeal for the miners, especially with the prospect of having to spend a further four months stranded in a tiny underground chamber before they can be rescued.
So what are the miners doing to keep mind and soul together? Playing a whole lot of poker it transpires. According to the daughter of former Chilean football international Franklin Lobos who is one of the trapped miners, the men are getting a serious number of hands in. In an interview in the Daily Mirror, Carolina Lobos revealed her confidence in her father's ability to survive saying, “"It will be difficult, I'm sure, but I'm not worried about him. I know he is happy and content down there because he is playing lots of poker and cards. It is good for his mind."
The trapped men are receiving a steady supply of water and medicine, as well as letters from family members via a six inch wide hole. Experts are hopeful that they will remain in decent physical shape while the rescue tunnel is built. Let's hope that poker does the same for their mental strength.
Jonathan Little has a way of sneaking up on a tournament field. He got off to a strong start during Day 1A of the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, but he laid low during Day 2 and during the early portions of Day 3. Little stormed to the top of the counts late in Day 3 though, thanks to a trio of knockouts. First, Little helped to burst the bubble, knocking out Brian Patrick in 46th place. Then, he knocked out the last woman standing in the field, Erica Schoenberg. He finished off the trifecta by ousting the beginning of Day 3 chip leader, Phil Collins.
While Little ended the day second in chips with 1,314,000, Collins was unable to survive to make Day 4. Collins’ day began on a high note and he rode his Day 3 starting stack from 898,000 as high as 1.1 million. Then his luck began to turn as he doubled up several opponents, including Tyler Cornell and Kyle McCammond. Collins survived to make the money, but made an early exit in 29th place.
The end of Day 3 chip leader is Andrew Frankenberger, who began the day second in chips and ended the day on top with an impressive 1,958,000. He leads the 15 players who survived to the end of Day 3 and will return for the final table play-down day on Tuesday. Other notable survivors include Tom “titantom32” Braband, Tyler “brainwash” Cornell, and Jared Jaffee.
The day began with 60 players and the field quickly condensed, breezing through the 45-man money bubble in three hands and cutting the field to the final two tables by the time play concluded. Some of the casualties along the way included Tim Phan, Joe Sebok, Marco Johnson, Joe Hachem, JC Alvarado, David Sands, and November Niner Soi Nguyen.
Tuesday the remaining 15 survivors will return to the Bike at 1pm PT and play down to the six-handed televised final table. Here are the top five chip counts headed into Day 4 of play:
How can a tournament attract more players than its last run and yet have a lower prize pool? Easy, just halve the buy-in. Last year’s World Poker Tour Legends of Poker event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles received a little under 300 entrants; this year has 462 but with a $5,000 buy-in as opposed to 2009’s $10,000.
Prahlad Freidman won over $1,000,000 for his victory in the event last year and this year the winner will win $750,000 with the top 45 players gaining a return on investment. On Saturday nearly 300 players competed in the second opening flight of the event with Kathy Liebert playing in her 100th WPT event.
However, despite her fifteen cashes and six WPT final tables Liebert hit the rail early on, yet to find her WPT title. Daniel Negreanu ran into a royal flush to be eliminated late in the day while stepfather/son combo Barry Greenstein and Joe Sebok enter Day 2 in the top twenty chip counts.

TheWorld Poker Tour's Legends of Poker Main Eventkicks off today at The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles today. The $5,000 buy-in event boasts two Day 1 starting days and will run through August 25 when the final table will be filmed for TV and a winner crowned.
Last year's Legends of Poker Main Event was a $10,000 buy-in that saw 279 players take their seats at the felt, creating a prize pool of $2,650,500.Prahlad Friedmanbested the field last year to take home $1,034,000. Two 2009 November Niners finished in the top ten in that event,Steven Begleitergoing home in ninth place for $29,240 andKevin Schaffelfinishing in second place for $471,670.
Several pros will be attending this year includingDaniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Phil Hellmuth, Greg Mueller. Friedman will be on hand to defend his title.
Of the 26 events on the Legends of Poker schedule, 22 are already in the books. On top of the side events that were going on, there was also a casting call. Ted Forrest wins the biggest prop bet ever by losing 50 pounds in two months and earning two million dollars. His bet was with Mike Matusow and Justin "BoostedJ" Smith. It's not clear how much they each have to pay, but it is clear Ted will have a hard time collecting from Matusow.
By now everyone is aware that the November 9 is set. As the most well-known player of the group, Michael Mizrachi headlines the feature table, but many will be curious to see how Jason Senti plays, he is a podcaster at Poker Static and a coach at Blue Fire Poker. Mizrachi also recently got into the poker training scene by joining Deep Stacks Live.
Phil Laak was hospitalized following an apparent ATV accident. He was on a camping trip with his poker buddies when the accident happened. Laak twittered pictures of the accident which looked pretty gruesome. He had lacerations to his right eye and several broken bones.
Rumours have been flying thick and fast but heads-up juggernaut jungleman12 has changed his “probably” to a “definitely” and will be taking on Tom “durrrr” Dwan in the durrrr challenge. So far that’s all we have, with jungleman12 saying on his blog that “it’s going down”.
The challenge will see the two play heads-up across four tables for 50,000 hands. The game isn’t confirmed but it will almost certainly be jungleman12’s specialty of NL and at stakes of $200/$400 most likely.
If jungleman12 emerges as a winner after 50,000 hands then Dwan will pay him $1.5m; if he loses he pays Dwan $500,000.
Each Tuesday night ESPN will air two hours of all new episodes of their coverage of the WSOP through November 9th - when the November Nine return to decide a winner for the Main Event. Episodes will air from 8 - 10 p.m. (ET) July 27th through August 17th and episodes will air from 9 - 11 p.m. (ET) August 24th - November 9th.

Hello BPT Members! With 'Random poooker News' I will start releasing point form news snippets and random thoughts on anything poker related, that you can quickly read and be up-to-date on the happenings of the poker world. Please give feedback or make corrections in the comments. On to the news:
- Phil Laak's world record has been broken. A group of amateur poker players from Austria are attempting to play for 150 straight hours, a sick accomplishment if they can do it, considering Laak played for 115 hours. No indication as of yet if it is officially being monitored as to Guinness World Record standards.
- Earlier this week Phil Ivey won his 8th WSOP bracelet in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E event, tying him for fourth most bracelets of all-time and leaving him three behind Phil Hellmuth. What I really find interesting is that Phil Ivey announced he thinks he can win 30 bracelets. Bracelet bets among the pros have become a big issue at the WSOP. I wonder if Phil is just saying this to somehow leverage future bracelet bets, or if he thinks he can really do it.
- Boywonder leaves Leggo. Boywonder, a popular online poker player, made a splash on the training scene earlier this year by signing to produce videos with Leggopoker. But after only two videos he has left the company. He listed time constraints, not being able to negotiate beyond a standard deal, and concerns of teaching his competitors too much as his reasons for leaving.
- Lastly, I would just like to say thanks to George12, rnawrocki, Welzou, jmichaels, and Marionache for some great uploads this week. There is a lot of new content and a lot of requests have been filled, which is nice to see. The site has been stable and the community has been active. Keep up the good work everyone.

French pianist Vanessa Hellebuyck became the first female from her country to win WSOP gold when she won the Ladies event in a quick heads-up match with Denmark's Sidsel Boesen. Dutch Boyd took down Event #23 for his second WSOP bracelet and added nearly a quarter of a million dollars to his bank account after three grueling days of play and a marathon heads-up match and more.
Event #22: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship
It only took seven hands of heads-up play for France's Vanessa Hellebuyck to take the 2010 WSOP Ladies champion title, where she became the first-ever female bracelet and fifth overall bracelet winner for France in WSOP history. With her win she joins countrymen Gilbert Gross, Patrick Bruel, Claude Cohen and David Benyamine in the WSOP history books.
Hellebuyck immediately put the pressure on Denmark's Sidsel Boesen during heads-up play, forcing the Dane to play wisely with her short stack. The night ended when Boesen ran her into Hellebuyck's pocket fives and failed to improve on the board. With the Ladies Event title Hellebuyck, a married mother of two and an accomplished pianist, picked up more than her first bracelet: the tournament was her first ever Las Vegas cash. She is also only the second Ladies event winner to hail from outside the United States: Svetlana Gromenkova, of Russia was the first in 2008.
During the 2010 WSOP, Phil "The Unabomber" Laak set the Guinness world record for the most hours of poker played in a single session playing for 115 hours, smashing Paul Zimbler's unofficial record set at the 2009 WSOPE of 78 hours, 25 minutes and 45 seconds. When Laak broke Zimbler's record he announced, "There's a new sicko in town!"
Playing $10/$20 no-limit holdem, Phil started the session on June 2 at the Bellagio poker room in Las Vegas. He was joined intermittently by poker pros Scotty Nguyen, Andrew Robl, Thuy Doan, and his good friend Antonio Esfandiari. He was also cheered on by his Hollywood girlfriend Jennifer Tilly.
After the enduro session, Phil was up $6,466 and is donating half of his earnings to Camp Sunshine.org, a charity which supports children with life threatening illnesses. Laak also earned a $1000 donation from "Kaz" after being challenged to do 30 pushups; Phil did 32 shortly after the 60 hour mark.
It is up to Guinness to decide the official final playing time after taking into account breaks away from the table.
When the final table of the $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship commenced it was anyone’s guess who would walk away with the Chip Reese Trophy. What everyone did know is there was a 25% chance the winner’s name would end in “Mizrachi.” Brothers Michael and Robert Mizrachi were just the third siblings in history to clash at a WSOP final table and the brothers didn’t pull any punches when it came to one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year.
In the end, it was Michael, also known as the Grinder, alone at the top, but Robert was still on hand to celebrate despite getting knocked out in fifth place. The whole Mizrachi clan was present as Grinder collected his first WSOP honor after a long, exciting, and surprising final table that kept everyone guessing who would win until the very end.
Deeb came to the final table second in chips to perhaps the hottest player in poker right now, Sorel Mizzi.
In the end, the two squared off heads-up for the title with Deeb doubling twice, including once with ace-queen against ace-king, to erase Mizzi's massive chip lead and secure the victory.
"I cannot believe I came back," said Deeb. "He kept making me call, but I changed my game and got a bit of a break."
The win was worth €290,000 to Deeb while Mizzi added €120,000 to the more than $1.3 million he's already won in 2010.
Deeb, who has two World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour wins, now has more than $7.1 million in career live tournament earnings.
The final table of the 24-player event, which was filmed for TV, also featured Bruno Fitoussi, Andrew Feldman, Antony Lelouche and Roger Hairabedian.
"Congratulations to Freddy," said Fitoussi, who happens to represent the Aviation Club de France where the event was held.
"Sorel Mizzi has been on an unprecedented run tearing up the online and offline felt. He's the man to beat in poker at the moment and if I had to pick someone to do it, Freddy Deeb would be very high up on that list."
The session began with Hansen sitting alongside Di "Urindanger" Dang for 176 hands at $500/$1,000 Cap Pot-Limit Omaha. By the end of the match, Dang hand earned over $57,000 before logging off for the night. Up next came Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, who waged all out battle against the Great Dane for nearly three hours.The match proved to be a complete disaster for Hansen proceeded to lose $375,282 to Sahamies over 686 hands.
Up a total of $453,459, Sahamies logged out of the site opening the door for Ashton "theASHMAN103" Griffin, the next in line to take a shot at one of the world's most popular high-stakes action players. Griffin only stuck around for just 40 minutes, but still managed to book $150k in profit over his 120 hands.
Hansen would find his final opponent for the session in Tom "durrrr" Dwan, and much to the dismay of the year's current profit leader, the Great Dane finally managed to turn a small profit on the match. He ended up losing $125k against durrrr.
Those railbirds who were eagerly awaiting the live poker debut of Mystery Swede Isildur1 will be sad to hear that the masked Scandinavian has decided to back out of his scheduled appearance at PartyPoker’s Big Game IV in London this weekend.
According to a blog post from Team PartyPoker’s Tony G, Isildur1 informed him of his absence via text message, simply saying, “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”
Tony G had agreed to back Isildur1 for the televised cash game and the organizers behind the event even offered to let the Mystery Swede play in a mask to keep his identity under wraps. Isildur1 apparently cited personal reasons to explain his last minute change of plans.
The unexpected cancellation has resulted in Tony G “washing his hands” of the high stakes online cash game player. This comes after numerous attempts by Tony G to get Isildur1 back on the cash game scene in the same dramatic fashion he made his entrée into it last fall.
Being a tournament director can be a thankless job. If everything goes well nobody notices you but if the slightest thing goes wrong there's usually someone ready to complain about it.
Take for example, this piece of shocking behaviour at the latest WPT event in Bucharest. Sometime Romanian TV presenter and football agent Ioan Becali threw a right hissy fit on the opening day of the current WPT tournament as can be seen on the full version of the news.
And the reason for his toy throwing tantrum? Somebody steal his chips? Slowroll with the nuts? Cheat in any way in fact? None to all of the above. The reason for his show of petulance was that he though a fellow player at his table was hogging the only masseuse girl available. Really.
New information from Berlin has resulted in another arrest in relation to the European Poker Tour (EPT) Berlin robbery and re-opened the possibility that the man originally arrested and subsequently released by police over the weekend is, in fact, connected to the armed robbery.
The police are still on the lookout for the bandits that robbed the EPT event in Berlin.
One suspect was arrested, questioned and then released. The European Poker Tour event was interrupted on the final day of the main event when four robbers made a scene and made off with a large sum of prize money.
The police in Germany arrested their first suspect on Friday and released him Sunday. They cited lack of evidence, in addition to new evidence that proved he was not part of the crime.
With so much attention being paid to the robbery that occurred at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Berlin stop yesterday, you may have forgotten that there was a tournament going on. After the melee calmed down yesterday, the players returned to the felt to play down to a final eight and came back Saturday to play down to a champion.
American online poker pro Kevin “ImALuckSac” MacPhee held the chip lead headed into the final table and came out with all the chips as well to earn his first EPT victory at his first EPT final table.
With a field of 306 players this year's LAPT Punta del Este event generated a prize pool of $1,042,260.
Forty-eight players made the money with Barbero taking home $279,330 for first.
The final table was made up of three Argentinean players, two Brazilians, one Colombian and one local player from Uruguay.
The only player from outside South America to reach the final table was French PokerStars qualifier Nicolas Cardyn, who finished second for $161,550.
The tournament was held at the Mantra Casino & Resort at Punta del Este.
Barbero, who once represented the Argentinean national team in Magic: The Gathering tournaments, also became only the second Latin American player to win an event on the LAPT circuit.
Previously, he finished ninth at the LAPT season 2 event in Mar del Plata and has six cashes at the World Series of Poker.
Isildur1 made a well-publicised return to the high-stakes games on Full Tilt Poker this year after his rise and fall to the tune of $6,000,000 in 2009. In a period of less than two days, the Swedish over-aggressor earned the better part of $1.5m.
During this period he played some much-anticipated – yet anti-climactic – rematches with Brian Hastings and Tom “durrrr” Dwan, to whom he lost $4.2m and won $5m respectively. However, most of his money in 2010 came at the hands of Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo.
Their largest pot totalled up at $416,000. It was a classic Omaha coin-flip as Isildur1’s set couldn’t escape Townsend’s huge flush. Isildur1 lead out for $7,800 into a $11,000 pot on a 3-bet flop of Kh-5h-6d then 3-bet Townsend’s raise to $84,600. The CardRunners instructor called and the money flew in on a Tc turn.
He went in to the final table of the World Series of Poker Circuit in Tunica, Miss., as the chip leader and when all was said and done, Paul Wasicka came out on top.
Wasicka's win got him $139,422 and his buy-in for the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.

After a highly successful opener in Galway the UKIPT headed to Manchester. The G Casino in Manchester is the venue for the second leg of this UK & Ireland Poker Tour. The entries were all sold out reaching it's max capacity of 500 poker players

This time Isildur1 won, he owned a dude called jungleman12 and Ziigmund.
The $100/$200 session with jungleman12 (they played thousands of hands) left Isildur1 with $500.000 in black numbers and jungleman12 with NOTHING. He took his entire bankroll aparently. You can read their chat long clicking the news title.
After dealing with this dude he went after Townsend and he managed to get +1M from him, tho Townsend got it back and the sessions ended up +$50k Isildur1.
The Big deal came with Ziig who lost near to 2M against isildur1 (and the last one lost 350K vs Antonius).
Interestingly, Isildur1 lost over $850,000 at the $300/$600/$100 tables but made the bulk of his profits at $500/$1,000.

As you already know recently Patrick Antonius won the biggest online pot ever (800k) vs Isildur, I was browsing some news pages and found the chat of the entire session, where Isildur lost 2.9M vs Patrick playing battle Royale.

In the River the 8d gave Antonius his gutshot and the impresive pot.
Priyan de Mel, a regular player at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour won the first prize among 287 entrants, the Buy-in was £1,000 and the prizepool £287,000.

Bodog organizes his own series of poker like FTP and PS (yeah it's not as big as WCOOP or FTOPS) and calls it Bodog Poker Open, this the the seventh time they do it and their Main Event had 257 entrants that generated a prize pool $145,790.
Among the participants were two pros (Evelyn Ng and David Williams) and some well known online players.
Anyway this dude MrElPaso just beated em all, earning $36,447.50.
Cimpan was the best out of 352 poker players (Final table featured pros Eric Froelich, Lee Markholt and Matt Stout). Aparently Cornel Andrew Cimpan is very good at heads-up he started 4-1 in chips against Soheil Shamseddin.

Hall, whose biggest previous cash was $16,818 for a 30th-place finish at PokerStars EPT Dortmund this year, came into a rather tough seven-handed final table as the second-shortest stack. Mizrachi, a 2007 WSOP bracelet winner with almost $3 million in career tournament earnings, held a sizable lead.
The two players agreed to a chop where each took $414,680 in second-place money, $30,000 was reserved for the winner and the rest split based on the stack sizes, giving Mizrachi the majorty of the cash.

That hand made history as Tom Dwan called Barry Greenstein's all-in to create a pot with a total of $919,000, It seems that it will be another fellow HSP player that will succum to durrrr's Big Poker Play.
Known for his loose-agressive and sometimes unbelievable playing style, this may be the time when the "he is only lucky" stigmata is removed from over his head. Being related to Gus Hansen in playing style dosn't improve the image of his hand choice and card selection, but after the amount of "Large" pots he has taken down in recent times, it may not just be luck on Tom Dwan's side.
Barry Shulman wins 2009 WSOPE in an awsome heads-up battle with Daniel Negreanu. With the 339 person field that started the WSOPE Main Event, the last 9 took over 17 hours of play to decide the victor.
Without giving all the action away, Daniel Negreanu lead at the start of the battle with over 6 million in chips, and Barry Shulman on 3.8 million which was turned right right around not long into the saga. With Daniel left with just over 2 million, he gnawed for the next 2 hours at Shulman's stack. He eventually regained the chip lead.
Then came a hand that changed it all, needless to say it was obviously not in Daniel's direction. It only took that hand and the next to give Barry Shulman his second Bracelet and the £800,000 in prizemoney.
Day 5 sees the the top 9 out of the 339 starters, take their seats around the last and final table. With 6 Bracelet winners and 2 November Niners its a glittering final table. With all of the action revolving around the £800,000 1st place prize, there is no doubt that it will be action packedday. The money looks to be on Jason Mercier to take it out, and with 3,198,000 in chips is very well positioned.

Day 3 ended with the bubble, the remaining 36 guarenteed a minumum of £21,142. With Matt Hawrilenko (AKA Hoss-TBF) sitting top spot with 701,500 in chips and 6 time bracelet winner Men "The Master" Nguyenjust surviving the purge with just 60,000.
The "Bubble Boy" John Tabatabai got dealt harshly. Holding Pocket Aces he moved all in pre-flop, only to be called by Peter Gould'sPocket Sevens. Gould hitting a set on the flop when the cards came out 7c, Js, 10h, the turn draws a 9h to give him more outs. But the river was not to help with a 10s to give Gould the Full House, and the win. (Dont we all know how that feels!)
Out of the remaining 36 two of them are WSOP 2009 final tablists Antoine Saout and James Akenhead, but both are short stackers with lots of work to do to make another final table. Other notable players still involved with chipstacks varying form 200,000 up are Steve Zolotow, Daniel Negreanu andDoyle Brunson.
The WSOP Europe began on the 28th of September. With the entrance of Phil Hellmuth Jr. dressed as Caeser, with horse-drawn chariot and all the pomp of the 11 time WSOP bracelet winner. But all the action was on the tables as usual, out of the 156 entrants on day 1.a only 79 would make it to day 2. Some of the noteable players in the field were Jeff Madsen, Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey and with only 17,000 in chips left Phil Hellmuth Jr.
Day 1.b started with 178 players with Steve Zolotow being the big winner. Daniel Negreanu and Antonio Esfandiari also finishing the day in the top 10. But it didnt go as well as some hoped, With Howard Lederer, JC Tran and last years WSOP winner Peter Eastgate making an exit. 107 players made day 2.
Day 2 started out with the remaining 178 players, but it wasn't long before that field was narrowed down to 92. London's Ian Munns leads the players with 528,300 in chips, Doyle Brunson as a notable player is sitting in 6th place, continuing to show that age is no barrier on a poker table. Phil Hellmuth want out in spectacular fashion, with a verbal "rant" at fellow High Stake Player Antonio Esfandiari, after being called on every street with Esfandiari's Q's, when only holding 8's.
If last years WSOPE Main Event is anything to go by, with 400+ hands played at the final table. It should be good viewing.

The poker marathon session began on Monday with Zimbler taking on a series of pro players, media and members of the public in 20-minute heads-up sessions.

Paul Zimbler is a Pro Poker player, he plays both Hold'em variants, Omaha and Texas. His official numbers start on 2001 when he got a decent 5th place at the MidLand Master, his greater cash out was at Paddy Poker Irish Open ($45K)
The attempt will run on the 21st of September as Zimbler will attempt to play poker for 80 hours, starting at 1pm. I personally think it's sick, he would need to stay awake for more than 3 days!

I do understand that there shouldn't be discrimination but, this is too much, there are tons of tourneys were a man can play and he choosen this one, I guess to have an edge. Not saying either that women play worse than man, I can cite numerous examples of women, such as Annie Duke, Jenifer Harman and Cyndy Viollete, that would teach this dude several lessons in the table.
To put it simply, women's tournaments are supposed to provide a level playing field for women who might not want to play in what have been traditionally male-dominated events.
